Today I had to write about a book that is new to me, but actually came out in 2012 — French Flair: Modern Vintage Interiors by Sébastien Siraudeau (originally published in French as L’Esprit déco).
Focusing on quality, history, character, and comfort (essential elements for any home), this hefty tome has over 700 pages of gorgeous photographs and thoughtful text, covering the author’s encounters with owners, designers, and decorators throughout France. Nearly every page made my heart swoon and my mind race, inspired by the wizardry on display.
French Flair is divided into seven lengthy chapters covering different themes: Authentic, Traditional, Romantic, Elegant, Eclectic, Contemporary, and Natural. Each chapter contains several vignettes exploring different styles within that theme. It ends with an “Address Book” which is a veritable treasure trove of hard-to-find French resources.
Unlike some other interiors books, this is one I will definitely come to again and again — it is that good.
